Samsung introduced a new lineup ofcamera flash LEDs for mobile devices. The first one is the 3432 1.8t(FH341A) reflector-integrated flash LED. It's designed for high-endmobile devices with cameras that require a wider field of view (FOV)angle. Apparently, the next Galaxy smartphone is one such product, because the company confirmed that this LED module will be used inits “nextGalaxy smartphone”. It also confirmed that this phone will beintroduced "later this month".

The LED module provides a wide FOV, alead frame, and a reflector with its own optics and diffusionfeatures. It will deliver over 165 lux at 1A, and a minimum colorrendering index of 80. According to Sammy, this assures "qualityphotos in daylight and at night." Another new Samsung LED module, the3432 1.4t (FH341B), is specifically designed for mobile OEMs seeking“extra-slim LED solutions”. The package is 1.4mm thick, which issupposedly ideal for devices thinner than 7mm. It has a minimumilluminance level of 165 lux.

Samsung also unveiled the LED 2016(FH201A) standard flash. In comparison with previous methods, whichdispensed phosphor on each chip, this LED relies on proprietarycell-film phosphor applied to “flip-chip” packages. The moduleoffers 220lm of light output and improves color deviation by around40% compared with the older technology.

The final new product is a pair of SideView LEDs ─ 3810 0.6t (MS062F) and 3810 0.8t (MS082F). They featurehigh color reproducibility and brightness levels. They operate onless than 2.9 volts. The 3810 0.6t provides 3.1cd, while coming in at0.6mm in height. Samsung deems it ideal for “slim smartphones andtablets”. The 3810 0.8t offers more luminous intensity at 3.2cd,with a 0.8mm thickness, which is better suited for tablet andnotebook PCs.

It is likely that these LED moduleswill appear in this year's upcoming Galaxy devices. Are theirspecifications up to standards? Feel free to weigh in with youropinions.
